IIB participates in the Conference of International Investigators, cooperating with other international organisations in the area of fighting corruption and fraud

From September 28 to October 2 in the Swiss town of Montreux, the 16th Conference of International Investigators took place, together with several associated meetings of staff from more than 50 different international organisations and multilateral development banks. The event, which for the first time included IIB’s representatives among its participants, was hosted by The Global Fund.

The Conference was established by the European Anti-Fraud Office in 1999 and represents the biggest annual forum for experts from international organisations in the field of conduct of investigations and prevention of prohibited practices. It serves as a platform for discussing latest developments, approaches and practices in relation to effective fight against fraud and corruption.

The Bank’s representatives took part in training sessions on conducting investigations, thematic discussions as well as work of a special group of international financial institutions. Within this group, which also includes the likes of the ADB, the AfDB, the EBRD, the NIB, the IDB and the World Bank, IIB’s delegation gave a presentation on the compliance management system developed at the IIB after 2012, which includes management of risks related to fraud and corruption. The presentation was met with great interest.

Such events provide the IIB with a platform for exchanging experience and interacting with other IFIs. Participation in the Conference will allow the Bank and its partners to more effectively prevent illegal practices and fight them, guaranteeing safety for their resources and investments from prohibited practices and other wrongdoing.
